Ben Kamiat's place of birth

edit

I had revised this to read as follows: "Benjamin Kamiat, a Jewish immigrant born in Lemberg, Austria-Hungary"

Previously, someone had insisted that he was born in "Austria."

Omnipaedista took out the name of the empire in which Lemberg was located, saying as justification for this, "The contemporary political status of the city cannot be determined without knowing the person's date of birth."

First of all, if you are claiming that he was born after the end of World War I, when it became Poland, then the name Lemberg is also wrong. The name was changed to Lvov at that time. So taking out one without the other is meaningless. If it was Lemberg, then it was Austria-Hungary.

Second, he was born before the turn of the century, when it was most certainly Austria-Hungary. He emigrated to the United States before World War I broke out.

I know this because I am his nephew, Bruce Kamiat. He was my uncle. I knew him. This is my own family history.

But I have made so many efforts to correct this at this point that I give up. Clearly, there are people on Wikipedia, for God knows what reason, who are invested in preventing this piece of information about Ben Kamiat from being on the page.

So go ahead and take out Lemberg too, and go back to putting him in Austria. Put him wherever you want. I give up.

Bruce Kamiat
