Disputed page move

I disagree with the page move. In the English-speaking world (UK, USA), he's much much better known as Capt. Birdseye. Ohconfucius (talk) 03:56, 13 February 2009 (UTC) Absolutely right. This is the English language version of Wikipedia, after all. Most native speakers of English will be very surprised to find themselves looking at a page headed, "Captain Iglo". I understand that many users are not native speakers of English but I think that it would be better to have a Captain Iglo page redirecting to a Captain Birdseye one, rather than the other way round.Simon Peter Hughes (talk) 22:35, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Requested move

Captain IgloCaptain Birdseye — The article mostly deals with "Captain Birdseye" not "Captain Iglo". Captain Birdseye is a consistent name in the English speaking world (and this is English Wikipedia of course), however Captain Iglo varies between countries (Kap'n, Capitan, etc). 91.84.75.255 (talk) 14:50, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Support Current name is not supported by the references which indicate the correct name should be Captain Birdseye. Tassedethe (talk) 16:25, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Endorse move. Ohconfucius (talk) 12:39, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Good! I am happy to see that the article's correct name has been restored As I said before, this is the English language Wikipedia and this character has been known to millions of English speakers as "Captain Birdseye" for decades. Although, of course, the character is known internationally by many different names, non-native speakers who search for "Captain Iglo" will find themselves here anyway because now "Captain Iglo" redirects to "Captain Birdseye"Simon Peter Hughes (talk) 14:58, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Historical figure

I heard on BBC Radio Four that there a real Captain Birdseye who used sell fish caught in the Great Lakes or Hudson's Bay - I forget which - in the 19th century. I don't have a link. Anybody else know anything about this?  SmokeyTheCat  •TALK• 19:17, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
