Very US centric article. Perhaps some details about other capitols would make this more international. In Canada for instance we also have Capitol Buildings.--Jeff 23:03, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oops, nevermind - I have been informed that in Canada we have Capitals (not Capitols) so please disregard what I said above.--Jeff 03:10, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

As best as I can tell Capitol is only used to refer to US State & Federal seats of government. Can anyone find any other references to an English speaking Nation using the Capitol Spelling? If not it should be deleted or redirected because it refers only to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Capitol or one of the State Capitol Buildings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Capitols) and is unique in the English language. Capitole & Capitolio are from languages other than English and not really relevent to the Definition of Capitol even though they use an o rather than an a in the spelling, I don't know French or Spanish but I would bet they translate to Capital not Capitol.

Merger with Capitol (disambiguation) edit

This page was effectively a DAB page to begin with, given that it simply repeated information found in the various articles on the seats of government that use the Capitol name. As the page had been tagged for having no sources, and due to the fact that there was confusion between it and Capitol (disambiguation) (for example, some newer entries on this page had nothing to do with seats of government), I have merged the two DAB pages. I have also revised the page so that it complies with WP:MOSDAB. I removed redlinks, and the link to the article on the Capitol building in Singapore has been moved to Capitol Cinemas/Theatres DAB page, where it belongs. Skeezix1000 13:37, 14 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Changed intro from definition of 'capital' edit

The introduction assumed a definition of 'capitol' which is actually the definition of 'capital'. (It's been like this since before the reduction of the page to a DAB.)

The intro equated 'capitol' with 'seat of government', but the 'seat of government' article linked at this point is about capitals.

I've replaced it with a definition drawn from the Wiktionary article (and consistent with the content of this article). (I've also checked 'capital', 'capitol', 'legislature' and 'seat', just in case, in the only American dictionary I have (The World Book Dictionary). (The issue isn't addressed in any non-American dictionary I have.) Klippa (talk) 01:24, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Link to WWE edit

Per WP:DABREDIR, we should link to the unpiped section redirect Capitol Wrestling Corporation, as that will take readers directly to the appropriate section of the WWE article. Please don't "fix" this redirect link, as it is WP:NOTBROKEN.--Trystan (talk) 15:14, 27 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Convert to a primary redirect? edit

In a broader sense, a capitol is a legislative building. Any broad-concept article content should probably be located there on grounds of MOS:COMMONALITY. And maybe this should then be converted to a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT to there too, and all the disambig content moved back to Capitol (disambiguation) as it essentially was in 2007.
