How is it opposite Cape Cod? It's like 400 miles to the north north-east!

The article describes Cape Sable as opposite ends to Cape Cod in relation to the Gulf of Maine as the two capes sit at opposite ends of the outer boundary of the gulf. Makes sense in a geographic sort of wayLetterofmarque (talk) 03:34, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

climate

rm Excepting San Francisco, California, virtually no other Northern Hemisphere location has September as the warmest month on average. At Cape Sable Island, October actually is slightly warmer than June. because Clark's Harbour is a counterexample and is right nearby. the statement is still true if you group Sable & Clarks together as one place, and read "virtually" to mean "almost", and I am sure that the original writer was aware of that and intended it, but it's a weak statement and other counterexamples can be found. i wont revert if someone restores this sentence but i would recommend rewriting it. the use of the word "virtually" in particular makes it misleading. —Soap— 19:44, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

I dont know why this didnt occur to me back in 2018, ... maybe I got confused between the two Sables ... but it is possible that the weather station referenced at Clark's Harbour and the weather station referenced on this article are the same one, since it's common for local weather stations to be found a short distance away from the town they serve. It is possible that the island has two weather stations, since it has a very unusual climate, but Weatherbase does not provide the metadata for each station and Im not sure Environment Canada does either. —Soap— 18:19, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

pines & palms

Sorry for makinmg multiple small edits, but sometimes i dont notice t hings all at once. i just removed , enough to support Araucaria araucana (Monkey Puzzle Trees) and Trachycarpus fortunei (Japanese Fan Palm Trees) as it was unreferenced and i would rather see info about trees that actually grow there vs hypotheticals. are there actually palm trees on the island or is it just that its winters are mild enough that they *could* grow there? the article for the tree says that they are grown as far north as connecticut, which has similar winter temps, but much warmer summer temps . the pine tree is similar ... i dont know much about trees, but apparently this species does not grow well in cold weather and so is mentioned here for a similar reason to the palm, but with no claim that the tree is actually grown on the island. —Soap— 20:13, 28 June 2018 (UTC)
