Caomhán vs. Kevin edit

Most references just talk about "St Kevin's Church", so per WP:UE this is probably how the article should be called. Note that most of the page is about the building, not the saint, for the simple reason that there is no information about the latter. Everything ga-wiki has to say about him is (ga:Inis_Oírr, without reference):

Bhí [Naomh] Caomhán ina dheisceabal le Naomh Éanna. ("Caomhán was a disciple of Enda of Aran").

I.e. ga-wiki does not even claim sainthood for Caomhán(?)

Now, older references give the name as Cavan rather than Kevin, which is correct, as strictly speaking Caomhán is distinct from Caoimhín . If I understand correctly, Caomhán (modern Caoimheán? or is this also distinctive, /vʲ/ vs. /v/?) is a diminutive form of Caoimhín (Cóemgein ). The church is still overwhelmingly called "St Kevin's Church" in our references. --dab (𒁳) 11:26, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also, and more properly, "Cavan's Church". Apparently there was radio carbon dating in 1992[1] perhaps the 10th-century date is from that (unfortunately only available as snippet view). --dab (𒁳) 05:30, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
It's the name that the OPW uses so it's official. See this Ministerial citation [2]. Laurel Lodged (talk) 10:48, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
