Closest Town?

"Canmore is the closest major town to Banff National Park, the main gate of which is just northwest of the town limits. It is a 22-kilometre drive from Canmore to the park's main townsite at Banff."

Wouldn't Banff be the closest major town to Banff National Park since it is within it? Or are we saying that Canmore is major, and Banff isn't?JimmyPiersall (talk) 22:07, 4 February 2020 (UTC)

Temperature

This is for Banff: weatheroffice, it gives an average temperature for January of -9; Canmore should be pretty close. The sentence should be reworded though (coldest day?).--Qyd 02:58, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

What are the people called?

My family have a house in Canmore, and I've been told that people there refer to themselves are "Canmorens." Is this so? I've been unable to confirm. I ask because it sounds like "can morons." I don't know whether they take note of the homonym, whether they care and enjoy the amusing self-deprecation, or other. Housing

Section on Wapiti Campground should be removed as it is detracts from the quality of the page (with punctuation errors etc.), is opinion and conjecture, and advertising for whomever is recruiting for that facebook page. Unique architecture

I looked at the city in google street view, and I noticed the newer houses have a very distinct architectural style that I haven't really seen anywhere else. History with Banff National Park

I read somewhere that Canmore used to be within the park boundaries until 1930, but I can't find anything to verify this claim. That Canmore, the Kananaskis River Valley, parts of the Spray Lakes watershed, the Ghost River watershed and the Red Deer River watershed were all part of BNP. Perhaps we could look into it and also add to the BNP article. Skippingrock (talk) 18:33, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
