relevance of last sentence in introduction is unclear edit

The last sentence in the introduction "With today's technology much information is obtained by 16S ribosomal RNA or even near-complete genomes with modern metagenomics techniques" has no obvious context for it's purpose. Either the reason why this is relevant should be made clear or the sentence should be removed.
