$5 coin edit

I don't think there were any actual plans for a $5 coin; they just were testing to see whether people would use it. Does anybody have any references for that? --RealGrouchy 17:31, 24 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

That isn't the old five dollar bill. I'll try and find one. DaveWF 05:06, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Deleted images edit

For some reason all individual images of the obverses and reverses of the 2001 series Canadian bills have been deleted (except for the $5 bill). Does anyone know why this has happened, or how to get them back? --thirty-seven 21:03, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I learned in 1972 or later, long after the redesign, that Yukon's Otter Falls had been featured on the reverse of this bill. I have never been able to obtain one since I learned of this. GBC 03:50, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spock and Wilfred Laurier edit

Any info on the 'Spock 5' or 'Five Dollar Spock'. Can you do it with the new bills? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.161.24.48 (talk) 05:31, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes you can! Long live the Five Dollar Spock! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.68.86.52 (talk) 23:57, 27 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

fishboat/tug on old $5? edit

I was hoping to find here historical images of older fives....I'm trying to find out the name of the fishboat(s) or tug(s), whichever it was, that was/were used on the obverse of the fives until this hockey boosterism/propaganda one came out. More to the point it wasn't the Haro Straits was it (sunk in '73)? All I really remember is that it was a famous boat; on the old-old five, not sure about the newer one with the boat, whether it was the same boat that is.Skookum1 (talk) 16:56, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please reply on Talk:Haro Strait, I don't have this page on my watchlist.Skookum1 (talk) 16:57, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Turns out it wasn't the Haro Straits, which was a famous sinking.....the boat in question was BCP 45 ("British Columbia Packers") and it's a National Historic Site in Campbell River; see this although a search for "BCP 45 National Historic Site" will turn up more.Skookum1 (talk) 21:38, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wayne Gretsky in design's reverse image? edit

I've heard one of the kids on the back of the back is supposed to be Wayne Gretsky. Is this true or is it just a rumor? --24.21.148.155 (talk) 05:26, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
