Should we add comparisons to every other similar national organizations or is the comparison to the FCC alone enough? NorthernThunder 20:10, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Comparison with FCC edit

I don't really like the way this article has a lengthy section comparing the CBSC with the FCC. It just seems like apples-and-oranges; the FCC is a government-appointed commission tasked with enforcing the law. The CBSC, on the other hand, enforces not the law but a set of voluntary codes. Also, of course, the CBSC is not appointed by democratic government but by the broadcasters themselves. --Mathew5000 16:11, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also doesn't the FCC have the power to levy huge fines if it finds that a TV station has broadcast something inappropriate? It seems that compared to that, the CBSC has no teeth because all it can do on finding that a station has broadcast something inappropriate is tell the station to put an announcement on the air apologizing for the inappropriate material. --20:27, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
