Neutrality

Certain sections of this article appear to be highly biased in their appraisal of the Camp. I have already removed a subjective adjective from the Drax Protest section ("impressive 'kids march'"). In the Continuing Campaign section, there is also an example of a 'weasel worded' statement "It was felt by many that the Camp marked a turning point in grass-roots campaigning against the causes of climate change". Although this claim is referenced, it has no encyclopaedic value. Who is this 'many'? Are they biased? etc.

I've edited the sentence to a more neutral "The Guardian newspaper reported..." Cooperp1 19:36, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

agreed, this article is written from an inside perspective and if it were a brand or product that were being discussed it would almost certainly be criticized for reading like a commercial. I understand that some of the editors active on this article may feel very strongly about the issues, which concern climate camp, but this page should give a reader a well rounded idea of what climate camp is, how it started and information regarding the significant amounts of controversy and media attention it has received. • I have contributed quite a lot of content to the articles over the past few years (as PeterEastern and under a previous name) and while I am no way an 'insider' I am generally sympathetic to their position and some neutral eyes would be good. I suggest we should cover:- what happened, was it peaceful or not, were people hurt or not, was stuff damaged or not, what was the policing like and how much did it cost, who was supportive of the action, why did they do it and why did they choose the location and focus and what was the response of their 'targets'. This last action at Ratcliffe was different from the previous ones in that there was a clear intention to do criminal damage (tearing down fences). Blackheath one illegal (they didn't have permission to be there) but it was peaceful. Camp in the City as illegal (they didn't have permission to be there) and peaceful until the riot police came in. Kingsnorth seemed to be a mixture with some heavy policing and attempted to get it. We should cover the educational side (lots of workshops) and I was amazed to see the Telegraph of all papers describing it as 'chic'! Do please edit away and I will contribute from time to time. I was hoping someone would add something about the 'targets' for the protests from Blackheath and of course the fact that Ratcliffe was chosen at that event. Another page for Camp

I have now completed the merge. This article had been tagged since September for cleanup, but with no comment here or on the Cleanup Page as to what was specifically required. I hope that this has to a certain extent now been done so I have removed the claenup tag. The other, duplicate page still needs to be deleted. I do not (yet) know how to process this. Preparing for 2007 camp

How should preparations for the 2007 camp's inclusion in Wikipedia begin? Should this article be moved to "Camp for Climate Action 2006", with a clear link at the top of this article? Or should section headings be edited? Also, there is little space for subsequent actions, including those at Nottingham East Midlands Airport, Bristol and a major gallery in London (name escapes me). In one sense, this page might detail the CfCA movement, with other pages detailing the camps in particular. Which option seems preferable?

Now we are here it looks to me like we need 2 articles, one for the current highly notable protest and one about the general movement and last year's campaign. The article was a mess because of the current updating situation but I have fixed it and will separate over the next few days depending ont he situation at Heathrow and what other editors here may think, SqueakBox 00:59, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Page organisation

this page is poorly ordered and dominated by Criticism. I beleive that such a significant event needs more of an adequate description. the NUJ criticism is a minor issue but seems to dominate the page. What hapened is the article needed reorganising for the 07 camp because it didnt make any sense and it was and is the 07 camp that is the most notable feature. Unfortunately the only information about the 07 camp has been criticism and while I expanded the notable policie bit I do agree that this NUJ criticism needs trimming and will do so and put it below the police bit. Restructure!

I have taken the liberty of restructuring the article to create a framework into which information about further camps can be added. I have created an introduction for the features of the camps that seem to persist from year to year but I am not an insider so others may know better! I am intending to create a timeline for the 2007 camp, with a sentence at least for the events of each day (referenced of course), and something about the lead-up to the camp including the injunction and the aftermath. Do check out the section I have added to the main Heathrow Airport article. People may also being interested in Flying Matters. I will add references to verify the current claims where I can find them, and will highlight ones where there is no evidence with {{Fact}}. PeterIto (talk) 23:58, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Images for Camp in the City

I have uploaded some images of Camp in the City to my Flickr site that can be used in the article however I left at 16:30 so have none available for later in the day. There are no suitably licensed images on Flickr yet for later in the day. Does anyone have any? Ratcliffe section

We have some basic information about the Ratcliffe action now. I am sourcing one or more photos and hope to have them in about 24-48 hours released using a suitable CC-BY-SA license. I have also asked E.ON for clarification about the three coal fired powerstations that they claim they are closing (frequently mentioned in the press in articles about the protest). They only have 3 in the UK and intend to expand one (Kingsnorth) and are I believe not planning to close Ratcliffe. They are indeed planing to close Ironbridge (because it doesn't meet emissions regulations and they have chosen not to upgrade it so that it does) so I assume assume that the other two are therefore in other countries. I am doing some work on the E.ON UK article to list the power plants and outputs etc and have added more details to the Ratcliffe article. PeterEastern (talk) 16:29, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
