Info carried over edit

The following section was put in a disamb page for Camp Butler, with original contribution by User:Mikeevs with a few subsequent edits. Since this article contains expanded details, I've not added it directly.

Camp Butler, camp for Illinois volunteers during the American Civil War. It was established in August, 1861, and used until June, 1866. It was located six miles east of Springfield, Illinois. Here nearly a third of the Illinois regiments were mustered into the Federal service and later discharged. After the capture of Fort Donelson, Camp Butler was used also as a prison camp, housing at one time as many as 3,600 captured Confederates.

It seems like we should have a separate article for Camp Butler. This article is about the National Cemetery. Rklawton 02:55, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
