Semi-protected edit request on 4 December 2021 edit

Hi,

There is no good information regarding a prominent issue of "Camel Toeing in Yoga pants". This issue is faced by many females doing Yoga and other exercises. This is a very good article about preventing camel toeing in yoga pants https://www.yogishopee.com/preventing-camel-toeing-in-yoga-pants. If you like it then please add it to this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camel_toe. Thirteeen13 (talk) 10:59, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:29, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

This is an offensive article. I wish to add an image of male camel toe (called moose toe), for the sake of equality. La Nave Partirà (talk) 11:46, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not done: This is an article on the camel toe which is exclusively female, (gender types notwithstanding) not the male equivalent. The "moose knuckle" -- not "moose toe" -- male equivalent is a redirect to the Gaff (clothing) article. Additionally, I don't see how including an image of the male equivalent will magically make this article less offensive to your eyes. Curved Space (talk) 12:47, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Moose toe and moose knuckle are two different things. Note the definition of moose toe from the Urban Dictionary:
"male equivalent to camel toe, similar to moose knuckle but much smaller. usually seen on dudes who like to wear tight flaming pants."
Also Note the caption of the photo is "Male cameltoe"
Note that other wikis include the male equivalent
German wiki, French wiki - there is a chapter about man cameltoe, I added the photograph.

  • I removed the section on "Male camel toe" added by the OP not only because there is no consensus by editors on this page to add it, but also because it was sourced to Urban Dictionary. Urban Dictionary is user-generated content, and as such is not considered to be a reliable source. See WP:UGC. Beyond My Ken (talk) 08:56, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Male camel toe edit

The phenomenon and the slang term male camel toe is common, and I find it insulting (for women) not to mention it alongside the description of female camel toe.

google "male cameltoe" - 420,000 results

google "male camel toe" - 80,000 results

google "moose toe" - 12,000 results (moose knuckle is another thing)

There are several photos in commons - Category:Cameltoes

It happens unintentionally, but there are also panties for sale for men who wish to create camel toe deliberately.

Thank you,

You'll need a citation from a reliable source, and the consensus of editors on this talk page, since they have already rejected your proposed addition. Beyond My Ken (talk) 15:02, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Please do not start a new section when you are responding. Beyond My Ken (talk) 15:02, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
First issue to consider is whether the male camel toe really exists. Google proves that it does, the outline exists and is photographed, written about and laughed about, same as female camel toe Usually it happens unintentionally, but also intentionally. So there is encyclopedic justification to mention it in the article about this outline.
The second issue is what it’s called. It has several names, most often it is called male camel toe. That’s why products that are sold to create this outline have names like Male Camel Toe Underwear. Slang dictionaries call it male camel toe but also moose toe and moose knuckle. La Nave Partirà (talk) 19:47, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
No, the very first issue on Wikipedia is "Is it supported by a reliable source?" You have yet to show that it is. Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:10, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
The Mirror is a reliable source for such things
La Nave Partirà (talk) 04:47, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please read sources before you cite them. That article is about the Moose knuckle, which here redirects to Gaff (clothing). I have no objections if you want to start an article on the moose knuckle - just be sure to use reliable sources. Beyond My Ken (talk) 04:54, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
BTW there is debate about whether the Daily Mirror is a reliable source or not. See WP:DAILYMIRROR. Beyond My Ken (talk) 04:57, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I mentioned earlier that there are several names and there is a confusion between them. male camel toe is the most common with 400,000 results in Google.
Gaff is one aspect of male camel toe, when people want to create the outline intentionally. But as seen in the photos in the reference, usually it is created unintentionally, just like the female camel toe, That's what this wiki article is about.
The Mirror is not a reliable source for most things, but it is reliable for slang and things like camel toe, that most other newspapers will not write about. La Nave Partirà (talk) 05:48, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I would like to invite people to take part in this discussion, how do you do it here? La Nave Partirà (talk) 04:26, 2 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • (Summoned by bot) (shoots the bot a "what are you doing to me" glare) ... This doesn't need an RfC. Wikipedia is not urban dictionary (or even a dictionary). You added a whole new section sourced only to Urban Dictionary, which is as far from a reliable source as it gets. If you find, say, three decent sources that talk about this aspect of the subject, I don't imagine you'll have a lot of resistance to just restoring a line about it (with those sources). The Mirror isn't great, but it's at least a step up from Urban Dictionary. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 13:54, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I did, it won't be found google scholar, but the Mirror writes about it - There is such a thing as the male camel toe - and it has a horrible name, Google widely acknowledges it (Google it), and the marketplace knows it - Hiding Gaff Panties Men Silicone Camel Toe Panty (and many more products). La Nave Partirà (talk) 17:58, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • MAL-FORMED RFC, NO QUESTION ASKED, SHOULD BE UNDONE - I concur with Rhododendrites above, except that the 3 reliable sources should not include the Daily Mirror, and, in any case, any sourced info should be at Moose knuckle, as there is absolutely no evidence that these are two different phenomenon. A "see also" in this article would be appropriate. Bottom line: the OP needs to WP:DROPTHESTICK unless they have new sources to offer, because this is getting to be annoying. Beyond My Ken (talk) 18:16, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
The article Moose knuckle is about panties to create camel toe shape in men. I don't beat horses with sticks or anything else, but I understand English wiki believes that in the world there is no such thing as male camel toe.
Interestingly, commons has a category for female camel toe, and a category for others - camel toe categories in commons.
I will follow this article and hopefully one day it will be balanced. La Nave Partirà (talk) 18:36, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • I've removed the RfC tag, since it malformed and never corrected. Beyond My Ken (talk) 16:17, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
