Hello.
This Wikipedia article is one of a number that has begun to be expanded, linked and modified by the Board of Directors of the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Association (CGMFA - cgmfa-acgmv.ca). It is a Canadian national arts organization and incorporated under relevant laws of the Province of Ontario. Since Calvin is a Canadian Grand Masters Lifetime Achievement Award winner, references have been updated with what there is along with an update on his discography, career and biography.
I have been designated by our national board of directors to update this and other articles of relevance to Canadian fiddling to an acceptable standard. My Wikipedia handle is Pianocan1, and I have an explanation page about what will be happening in the coming months with this and other articles. I hold a B.Mus.-Mus Ed. degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a M.Mus. degree in Ethnomusicology from the University of Bergen in Norway. I urge anyone with questions or concerns to check all Canadian fiddling websites and become educated with the Canadian fiddle community and the Canadian fiddle scene. speedy deletion edit
Calvin Vollrath is a notable Canadian fiddler. I do not think this article deserves speedy deletion. I thought I had indicated at least some of what makes him notable by mentioning that he won the Grand Masters championship, and that he has been a mentor to many other Canadian fiddlers. He is one of the best fiddlers in the world! Please do not delete this article.
- Yes you're right, the competition (if it is a major one) will count as the criteria for musicians at WP:NM. However, the article needs verifiable reliable sources to back up the claim. --JD554 (talk) 09:48, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Métis fiddling is a unique Canadian music style and there's depressingly little about it on Wikipedia. Adding a few more articles about Métis fiddlers and their style would help address that. Deleting them wouldn't. Flyingsquirrel (talk) 15:01, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
