Famous Incident Involving CallAir A-2 Aircraft edit

In 1947, on afternoon of June 24 a CallAir A-2 airplane owned by Kenneth Arnold (1915-1984) of Washington state. While flying his CallAir A-2 near Mount Rainier saw 9 disc object shaped traveling at over what he estimated traveling at 1200 miles per hour. He reported what he saw after landing to authorities. He assumed they were a new type of military jet aircraft. It was picked up by the major news media. When a reporter asked Arnold on how these aircraft flew. Kenneth Arnold replied, "They flew like a saucer(plate that a coffee cup sits on) that is skipping over water." A few days later a news editor decided to use the term "flying saucer" in the news article. Thus making Kenneth Arnold strange sighting the first major publicized UFO sighting.. The CallAir A-2 that Kenneth Arnold owned that he made his legendary sighting, is now at the North Cascades Vintage Aircraft Museum in Concrete, Washington located at the Concrete Municipal Airport still in flying condition.
