Is there an origin for the name "C cell"? 76.66.201.179 (talk) 10:17, 12 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Merging this article with "List of battery sizes"

edit

I've reverted changes made by Wtshymanski, which made this page redirect to List of battery sizes, as this was done without any consultation on the talk page. However, it may make sense to merge this page into the List of battery sizes page. I have also reverted similar changes made by Wtshymanski to AAA battery, AA battery, and D battery pages. --Supergloom (talk) 10:36, 8 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I suggest, again, that this article be merged with List of battery sizes. There's nothing notable about this particular size, and the relevant information is already given in that article. --Wtshymanski (talk) 20:05, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose merge Extremely common battery size sufficiently notable for its own article. RichardOSmith (talk) 20:11, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
    • OK, why? I've tried to find sources in Google Scholar and, searching for "C Cell" Battery, and excluding patents, I see 2400 hits, none of which are about this size of flashlight battery (so far) - many of them are about biological cells, not flashlight battery sizes. Google Books, same problem, about 1800 hits on C cell battery but none of them do anything but mentin it in passing. I come up with nothing that discusses whey *this particular size of flashlight battery* is notable. No sources= no inidividual notability. All the data is in the "List of battery sizes" article. --Wtshymanski (talk) 21:46, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Observe that we now have to repeat the references from Battery nomenclature because we have separate articles for each size. Good thing terabytes are cheap, as is editor time. --Wtshymanski (talk) 05:44, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
