editThe bit about the number of FM translators is clearly a non-neutral point of view, making reference to a "controversy" over the growth of translators in the educational/non-commercial portion of the FM Band. The assertion that CSN is "by far" the largest user of translators does not cite a source for "by far" other than a list of how many they do have.
I've done an import of the current licensed FM translators, and here are the counts:
Licensee CountOfLicensee CALVARY CHAPEL OF TWIN FALLS, INC. 428 EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION 323 HORIZON CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP 290 RADIO ASSIST MINISTRY, INC. 132 EDGEWATER BROADCASTING, INC. 122 BIBLE BROADCASTING NETWORK, INC. 94 FAMILY STATIONS, INC. 94 WAY-FM MEDIA GROUP, INC. 61 AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION 59 RADIO TRAINING NETWORK, INC. 55
Is 428 really "by far more" than 323? And is this relevant to explaining the purpose and operation of this minstry? StreamingRadioGuide (talk) 10:18, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Bring back the original WIFF Christian Rock Pre 1996.
editRichie and I came up with the WIFF call letters. Here is a copy of my Yelp page review.
I gave it 4 stars because when I first started listening to WIFF in Windsor, N.Y. It was independently owned by Richie. When he had the station, it was in the late 1990's and had no call letters back then. It was an all Christian Rock station at that time. Then he had to get call letters for the station, and I told him that WIFF would be perfect for it. He wanted to know what I thought it should stand for, and I told him Worship In Fast Forward.
He loved it, and so WIFF was originally formed. Then CSN bought the station from Richie and Christian Rock took a back seat and it has now become a contemporary Christian radio station to fit a wider audience. I personally feel it has lost its appeal. I came to Christ through the Christian Rock of the 70's, 80's and 90's. I am glad his station was on the radio, because it shaped my music style ever since. I now have a solid Christian Rock collection of over 200 CD's. So when I am on these big Christian Contemporary radio conglomerates, and they go to more contemporary songs, I just go to my CD's, and play my Rock! You can take Christian Rock out of the contemporary radio play lists, but you can't take it out of the rocker, AMEN!
Now some people say that Christian Rock is of the devil. But I beg to differ. Since when did man become GOD on the subject? Last I heard GOD uses whatever He needs to, to reach the lost! I say those who want to play GOD on this subject need to repent! AMEN! 2603:7081:5B02:710:9C3C:7F99:17AB:2FCC (talk) 15:02, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
- I am not sure if CSN bought it, or if Effect Radio did. I believe it was CSN. Anyway Effect Radio, the station we were left with does not measure up to Richie's platform either. Even that station doesn't register on a true Christian Rock station format, in my opinion. I did find a website that gives you the option to switch between 4 stations to choose from, so you can try to catch some Rock, but it's not perfect. Here is the website... theblast.fm
- I can only view it on the internet. It's really sad that, at least near the Binghamton, N.Y. listening area, there is no Christian Rock station. 😭😢😞 2603:7081:5B02:710:9C3C:7F99:17AB:2FCC (talk) 15:24, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
