Number cases is not the same with Real Data

edit

hi there,

I think some of number of cases-deaths-recoveries in this wikipedia always behind of real data from each Local Provinces.

Such as: East Java as of August 3rd, cases: 314.556, recoveries: 244.066, death: 21.337, active cases: 49.153 in your list: active cases still: 53.547

almost : 4.394 differences?

is it updated every day or not?

i feel only Jakarta only has the exact number with local provinces. so that's why jakarta is decreasing a lot for active cases whereas, other Java provinces are slowing

For consistency and reliability, all the data on this Wiki is based on the central government website, not the local ones. HiChrisBoyleHere (talk) 03:54, 10 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Map dates

edit

@HiChrisBoyleHere:, you may have misunderstood the maps being shown in the infobox. 1) There are dates placed on the map, which are also the last dates the map was updated. It is therefore not useful to mention them in the caption again. 2) Placing wrong dates in the caption is wrong, as it is misinformation.

Take a look at  , the date on it is 27-08-2021, which is the last time an editor updated it. You can scroll down a bit and check file history to see that the last time it was updated was on 29-08-2021. So, we cannot simply and wrongly state the caption in the infobox as Deaths by province as of 2 September 2021. Because the data in the map dates back to 27 August 2021. •Shawnqual• 📚 • 💭 14:45, 6 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Shawnqual: Yes, the editor updated the map on 27 August 2021. However, there was no data changes (no provinces passed the scales) from 28 August to 2 September. Therefore, the map reflects the most recent update which is 2 September and not 27 August. This could mislead the readers to think that the map shows the numbers as of 27 August, while in fact it is still updated until 2 September. HiChrisBoyleHere (talk) 16:43, 6 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@HiChrisBoyleHere:, If that's the case and this is something which happens regularly, then the editor needs to remove the date on the maps. Also, aren't the readers going to be misled when seeing 27 August on map and then seeing 2 September in the caption? Isn't that more confusing? I didn't have the information which you provided - that the levels haven't changed - and I doubt any passing readers/editors do either, they are most likely to assume it as a mistake. It might be best to then not state any dates in the caption. The latest numbers are anyways in the infobox and Timeline template. •Shawnqual• 📚 • 💭 16:52, 6 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Shawnqual: Good idea. Tagging the map editor @Flix11: to notice. HiChrisBoyleHere (talk) 14:32, 7 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@HiChrisBoyleHere:, I think it would be best and reasonable to not state dates in the caption until the editor responds. Even if the levels have not changed, that information is not available for the readers and is only available to a single editor - yourself. That is not good rationale to keep the dates in the infobox. •Shawnqual• 📚 • 💭 17:54, 8 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

should constantly changing data be removed?

edit

I've been asking this last year, but this has never been addressed. The line "the largest increase of cases... at most x recoveries and fatalities..." is redundant. I checked on other countries, they don't have that. Should this be removed, and replaced with a more general, streamlined summary? pinging HiChrisBoyleHere Thephoenix20 (talk) 15:59, 18 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

The Philippines also has it. HiChrisBoyleHere (talk) 03:11, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@HiChrisBoyleHere@Thephoenix20, just delete it. MRZQ (talk) 03:17, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please consider adding this to the "Transition to endemic stage" section of the article:

On June 14, 2023, President Joko Widodo announced that the country will end their COVID-19 emergency within the next two weeks and transition into endemic status.[1][2] 217.180.201.156 (talk) 20:08, 15 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
