The result of the move request was: No consensus to move. While most supporters agree with removing the year, there is no consensus to replace "lockdown" with "quarantine" or to move the page in general. I suggest to split the RM in two for possible alternate opinions regarding the year and the event.(non-admin closure) © Tbhotch (en-3). 20:40, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

WP:CONCISE and consistency with 2020 Hubei lockdowns, which are unprecedented at that scale (population 50M+ compared to the similar 15M+ in Lombardy, Veneto, and other northern regioni). The original move rationale riffs of WP:CRYSTALBALL. CaradhrasAiguo (leave language) 17:26, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

  • As author - I think the new title fits better. Though there is almost certainty that we will have just one lockdown of Northern Italy in this year (and likely for the next few years, or decades), "coronavirus lockdown" seems to be a better description. Juxlos (talk) 17:54, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
Comment Whichever way the request goes, the other page at 2020 Hubei lockdowns should be matched or changed rfor reciprocity. Sleath56 (talk) 18:16, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
Should be quarantines cos thats the proper word and commonname --Almaty (talk) 18:57, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
  • Keep in mind that the article title will be read by people in the future as well. What if a lockdown happens somewhere in Italy in 2030 or 2050? It's helpful to make it clear in the title that the lockdown is because of the coronavirus. – numbermaniac 07:41, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
  • Evidence of coronavirus lockdowns being the common name? No rigorous WP:RS analysis has been provided yet. CaradhrasAiguo (leave language) 00:40, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
  • The lockdown/quarantine is 24 hours old, but I see both used rather interchangably. Doubt there's going to be an order of magnitude level difference. Juxlos (talk) 01:45, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Would a better title be 2020 coronavirus outbreak in Lombardy and have the information there? Most of the discussion is on that region. Other regional articles could be created as needed. CrazyC83 (talk) 02:50, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Around 6 million people outside Lombardy are also locked down, so that would be hard. This article would be focusing on the lockdown anyways while the mentioned article would lean to the epidemiology, etc. Juxlos (talk) 09:29, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
This proposal seems to be moot now that the quarantine covers all of Italy. Nice4What (talk · contribs) – (Don't forget to share a Thanks ) 16:27, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
@廣九直通車: There's also lockdowns in Daegu and a number of counties in Washington State. Not 'too general,' given this lockdowns are related. —SquidHomme (talk) 11:36, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Closed as moot The locus of the discussion is whether the word northern should be in capital letter. The lockdown is now nationwide and the page renamed so the discussion is no longer relevant SYSS Mouse (talk) 01:28, 10 March 2020 (UTC)(non-admin closure)

2020 Northern Italy coronavirus lockdowns2020 northern Italy coronavirus lockdowns – Per MOS:COMPASS, the first letter of the word "northern" should not be capitalized, as "northern Italy" is not the proper name of an entity, meaning that "northern" is only the geographical adjective associated to "Italy". Ritchie92 (talk) 14:08, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Northern shouldn't be in the title, because part of the affected area is in Marche, which is in Central Italy. Jim Michael (talk) 15:52, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
Maybe just "Italy", then? Would be a little bit oversized though as only one out of the 20-ish provinces are not in the north. Juxlos (talk) 16:11, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

There was a bold move of this page that obviously makes this move request now meaningless. So I guess it can be closed. --Ritchie92 (talk) 21:59, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

2020 Italy coronavirus lockdown2020 coronavirus lockdown in Italy – Can we change the title to "2020 coronavirus lockdown in Italy"? This is more appropriate and is in line with other similar articles like 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Italy or 2020 coronavirus lockdown in India Amazingcaptain (talk) 16:28, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

Comment If you like to request move like this, can you requesting rename title from 2020 Hubei lockdowns to 2020 coronavirus lockdown in Hubei for same reason. 36.77.128.157 (talk) 21:07, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
@Amazingcaptain: an uninvolved editor has to close this move request, see WP:MR. --Ritchie92 (talk) 18:15, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
