SRC had a transmitter in Timmins in the 1960s, with the callsign CBFOT and broadcasting on Channel 9. It is not clear if it was a repeater of CBFT Montreal, a semi-satellite of CBFT, or a full local station. It was likely changed to a CBLFT transmitter in the late 70s, as opposed to a new transmitter being added at that time. I saw CBFOT marked in the Ontario Economic Atlas from 1969. Therefore, I doubt CFCL was broadcasting in both English and French for very long after it went on the air. Although it is possible that CFCL still produced its own local French programming after CBFOT went on the air.

This article, accordingly, is not to be written or structured as if it were about CBLT-7; it's to be written and structured as being about CFCL-TV specifically — its history ends where CFCL-TV's history as CFCL-TV ends.
