Talk:CETO

removed photo edit

Since this photo basically showed the same angle as the existing, land-based shot and there was already a photo of the system underwater, it's redundant to have both in the article. I tagged this article for references, expert attention, and reading like an ad brochure. It sounds like wonderful technology, but the tone of the article is not encyclopedic for the reasons tagged. Particularly spinny-sounding is the statement, "CETO units act like artificial reefs, because of the way they attract marine life." Unpacking that sentence reveals a weasely tone (does it attract cute dolphins? or destructive barnacles?), and thereby also a non-neutral point of view.

I encourage anyone who is an expert on an appropriately related topic to research and build on this article. I like the technology, but this in some ways falls short of content and style guidelines as a Wikipedia article. Erielhonan 07:24, 13 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I re-tagged this as an advertisement - not sure why the tag had been removed. Agree that the technology sounds interesting, but it has a strong emphasis on self-promotion for prospective investors. For example: 'relationships' section, and the 'other characteristics' section only includes alleged positive attributes but no negative - if they are so good, why aren't there millions of them already? i've had a go at cleaning up the article, have done some cuts and added refs. I have removed one date tag and one "citation needed" tag. I will leave other tags for others eds to remove. David Woodward ☮ ♡♢☞☽ 11:42, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

Is an update necessary? edit

In light of reports like https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-09-22/power-company-carnegie-energy-hit-by-wave-of-discontent/10289772 should this article be significantly updated? Rayf 13:19, 16 December 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by RayForma (talkcontribs)
