Usefulness to average reader

edit

We should distinguish between:

  • common abbreviations
  • anything else that could possibly be referred to as "CD"

Some of this disambig pages become practically useless, because editors throw in everything that could possible fit. The aim, though, is to help the reader when they only know the abbreviation, and not the article name. --Uncle Ed 17:10, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cd

edit

Cd should redirect to the disambiguation page. It is so arbitrary to direct it to cadmium. I would have figured compact disc or certificate of deposit. Take any reasonably large corpus of common speach or news articles (the two corpora most commonly studied by linguists) and I guarantee that either of those two meanings will be way more frequently used than cadmium. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.231.55.88 (talkcontribs) 08:20, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
