Primary Topic

edit

It appears to have been back and forth a couple of times, but I think this page as it stands [1] needs to be moved to CCTV (disambiguation) (currently a redirect here), as Closed-circuit television is the primary topic. There is only one other contender that I can see, China Central Television, but if you look at the page view stats for July 2008, China TV hovers around 350 views a day even with the upcoming Olympics, whereas closed circuit tv hovers around 1,300 views a day. Additionally, there is a clear preference towards closed circuit tv in this incoming links. CCTV (disambiguation) and China Central Television should be linked as hat notes at the top of Closed-circuit television. As such, I am listing this at Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation/Malplaced disambiguation pages MickMacNee (talk) 16:47, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

You should list this proposal at WP:RM. --Russ (talk) 17:47, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Malplaced disambiguation pages are pages at "Title (disambiguation)" with a redirect from "Title" (the opposite of the current situation). The moves might still be appropriate, but not as malplaced dabs. -- JHunterJ (talk) 23:03, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Move done

edit

The move is done, with CCTV currently redirecting here. I believe the intent is to have CCTV redirect to closed circuit TV instead, but I'll leave that decision and whether an otheruses tag is needed to the editors here.--Kubigula (talk) 04:04, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

That was the idea, so I have added {Redirect|CCTV} to Closed-circuit television. MickMacNee (talk) 14:51, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Closed Circuit Broadcasts

edit

I could be wrong, but I do not see a Wiki page for (whatI call) a closed circuit broadcast. These (mostly analog and pre-Internet) broadcast events involved (typically) major sporting events, such as the Ali-Frazier triptych of the early 1970’s. Currently each Wiki page describing these broadcasts imprecisely refer to this technology as closed circuit theater television or pay-per-view. And while these events were closed circuit, and pay to watch, and theater display, they were not as we think of these technolodies today: the circuit was widely dispersed geographically, the channel was through satellite (the only tech at that time with the bandwidth reaching worldwide, the pay to watch occurred by going to a venue receiving and displaying the event on a large screen, and paying the gate for a ticket to pass.

It seems to me that there is a Wiki page not a disambiguation to handle this.

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:240:8EE0:B8E6:EA7F:6B9E:2C3D (talk) 04:59, 2 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
