editRestored Roman imperial presence in Italy lasted from Belisarius' landing in Sicily in 535 CE to the absorption of Ducatus Neapolitanus (Duchy of Naples) by the Norman Kingdom of Sicily in 1139 CE. Imperial rule in Italy was briefly restored one more time during the 1155-1158 CE period (cities in Apulia).
