Butugychag was one from about ten subdivisions of BerLag (БерЛаг, БЕРЕГОВОЙ ЛАГЕРЬ).

Whole BerLag have about 20000 prisoners: 11.48 — 4277, 12.48 — 20 758, 01.01.49 — 15 3787, 01.01.50 — 23 906, 01.01.51 — 28 716, 01.01.52 — 31 489 (УРО); 01.01.53 — 24 431 [13]; 08.54 — 20 508 TOTAL - 169 463
