I'm not linking it in the article because it's not appropriate there, but there is a secondary Wordpress site associated with the Butterley Gangroad Project (see [1], [2]) that might be a useful source of pointers to primary and/or reliable secondary sources on this: https://butterleygangroad.wordpress.com/

Among the resources linked there is a photo of a really good diagram of the layout of the entire system from a Butterley Company brochure [3].
