Commercial Availability edit

I notice that it says in the article that the music video for Burning Up was only ever released on the Madonna video EP... but shouldn't some mention be made of the fact that the video is available on iTunes? 70.157.21.139 (talk) 09:05, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Encore outfit? edit

How Can Burning Up have been performed in that costume as the encore to the Virgin Tour when the costume described is the one she wore for the initial 'act' of the show? Turdalina (talk) 18:07, 10 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Virgin Tour outfit description is wrong edit

For Burning Up, Madonna wore black leggings, long black gloves and black cropped top as seen in this live video of the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-MmA-tMy14

It was not part of the encore either. That was just Like A Virgin and Material Girl in the final white wedding outfit.

Trivia edit

I think we need to add more trivia, e.g. which was the street where Madonna laid down, how did she put her hat on the laser, etc. 77.85.31.155 (talk) 11:28, 2 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Burning up was removed from the femme fatale tour during the north american leg. http://923now.radio.com/2011/08/08/concert-review-set-list-britneys-femme-fatale-tour-was-amazing/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.40.177.85 (talk) 20:38, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Genre classification edit

I noticed on this page, as well as many others, that the genre is not always specified nor is it always correct. Burning Up is a Punk Rock song. It is also a dance song but it's punk rock nonetheless. So why is it not classified as such? Just as Everybody was considered an R&B song at the time wouldn't it be considered an Urban Pop song? Especially if she was being portrayed as a black female at the time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.181.61.49 (talk) 00:00, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

And this is according to you or a reliable reference with which we can rely? If it is the first, we are sorry, you are not a reliable source. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 04:23, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Point taken for Burning Up, however, wikipedia itself states that this song is "punk-infused" and how Madonna was being portrayed as a black artist and also having the use of R&B in her music on her first album. So...would wikipedia count as a source? (98.181.61.49 (talk) 07:24, 29 May 2012 (UTC))Reply

Influences are not genres, and Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 18:37, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well I didnt say Punk and R&B influences. It says infusions. And if it is on wikipedia dont you guys get it from reliable sources?(98.181.61.49 (talk) 18:51, 29 May 2012 (UTC))Reply

U.S. Chart Performance edit

The statement that Burning Up "failed to do well commercially anywhere, except the dance chart in the United States" strikes me as unfair. I don't think Sire Records intended Burning Up as a release for a mass audience in the U.S.--I think their promotion was geared solely toward a dance audience. First, the fact that they only released it as a 12" single, indicates to me that it was marketed toward dance music fans, and not mainstream pop music fans, who, at the time, would have been buying singles on 7" vinyl records. Second, the promotional record sent to radio stations for the single only had Physical Attraction on it (on both sides of the record). So Burning Up wouldn't have received much airplay. For these reasons, I think the song was only intended to promote Madonna on the dance floor, and not at radio or retail. That it managed to reach #3 on the dance chart is a sign that it was a success in this regard. The push to give Madonna mainstream recognition came with her next single, Holiday.Ww adh77 (talk) 18:32, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
