Spillway upgrade edit

The sunwater project referred to is not about increasing the reservoir's capacity. However, as this is a very long-term project, it is questionable whether it should even be mentioned. Robbak 03:48, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Map edit

This article should have a map noting the dam's location. And co-ordinates. Anyone can do? Cheers ROxBo (talk) 12:41, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Builders edit

I have some doubts that it was Leighton Holdings that built Burdekin. I think that it was Leighton Contractors (a Holdings subsidiary) and probably the Major Projects division rather than the Queensland branch —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.23.213.2 (talk) 22:03, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Purpose edit

The article claims the purpose of the construction was for irrigation. To be exact, the water has only been used for that because the Qld State Govts (both parties) have refused to build pipelines to major towns. Only cane farms directly downstream in the Burdekin River have access to the water. It has turned out to be a major white elephant just like the Ord River dam, because WA govts have not bothered with piplines. The Fed Govt (Turnbull) is considering the second stage at Hell's Gate, and a small hydro scheme.203.87.118.239 (talk) 22:51, 28 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Name edit

If it is called the Burdekin Falls Dam, why don't we call it that on Wikipedia? Burdekin Falls Dam is in the official place names database and it's what the dam operator calls it, see [1] Kerry (talk) 08:10, 10 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
