Stratigraphy / Geology

edit

From what I know, this is a relatively undeformed area, with sedimentary rocks piling up in stratigraphic order. Therefore, cretaceous rocks could not be below the Precambrian Sioux Quartzite. I'm going to change it with a reference. Awickert (talk) 02:05, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wind Farm

edit

I'd like to see this section more focused and to the point. The wind farms are part of Buffalo Ridge but they are not Buffalo Ridge. If there's a need for encyclopedic information on the wind farms themselves, at some point that should be broken into it's own article.Prk166 (talk) 00:11, 17 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

There is a wind farm called Buffalo Ridge Wind Farm - this should have a separate page. In addition to this one there are numerous (at least 20) others that have been constructed on Buffalo Ridge. Yes this section needs to be redone.--71.214.237.152 (talk) 02:12, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Buffalo Ridge Wind Farm now has its own article. --Aflafla1 (talk) 04:50, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Draninge to east side of ridge is incorrect

edit

East drainage of Northern part of Couteau des Prairies does flow into Minnesota, but for the Buffalo Ridge portion(southern counties), it drains into the Des Moines River (West Fork). --71.38.175.146 (talk) 21:36, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Headwaters of the Redwood River (Minnesota River basin) lie mostly in Pipestone & Lincoln counties. JC Shepard (talk) 18:25, 12 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ok. I'm seeing now that the WDM River drainage lies a little further east of most of it. Could we say that the area is mostly to the Big Sioux and Minnesota, with some southeast portions draining into the West Des Moines River? --71.38.171.114 (talk) 22:01, 24 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Assessment comment

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Buffalo Ridge/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

The article states that Buffalo Ridge is the highest point on the Coteau at 1995 feet. However, there is a point near Summit, SD, also on the Coteau, at over 2040 feet, and Summit, South Dakota's article claims a 2014 ft elevation for the town..
