Genus
editThere seems to be some confusion regarding the genus of this species. Previously, it was placed in Buchloe, a monopypic genus. It was moved to Bouteloua, the genus that contains the grama grasses, in 1999. That change has been widely accepted, especially by sources updated within the last few years, such as GRIN database, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, PLANTs Database, and the book Grasses and Grassland Ecology. Within the past year, the article was moved to Buchloe from Bouteloua without any source being cited for the move.
