I want to improve this article and find citations. Will do that today.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 11:45, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm fairly convinced that the license and source for Image:Bubbles the Clown.JPG is inaccurate. The JPStalk to me 16:38, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merge with Test Card F? edit

Good idea, or not?--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 23:41, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Erm, I'm not sure. I think keeping this as a separate article would be nice.

Riatsila 19:07, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The problem is that most sources are about Test Card F itself, and only mention Bubbles in passing (he's not the primary subject of the sources; Test Card F is). I'm also curious to know how this managed to end up with an article of its own. Why are people so interested in Bubbles the Clown? He does have an endearing creepy quality to him, you must admit... people everywhere seem to agree on that one.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 01:26, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I see what you mean: I am terrified of him and Test Card F, yet I find them so interesting.

If it does end up getting merged I may attempt to get Test Card F to good article status. That shouldn't be too hard to do, although it will take a bit of work.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 02:22, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
You're terrified of him? Come on, he's not that scary. But he is... very endearing, I'll give you that.-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 20:34, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Alright, how about this for some Bubbles the Clown fan fiction.

It is 4:30am, and you wander into your living room, in complete darkness in a house all alone in the middle of nowhere. You turn on the TV, and Test Card F is showing. You stare at it for a few minutes, with Bubbles glaring at your as the test signal beeps repeatedly. Surely but slowly, Bubbles begins to move. He starts walking, jumps out of the TV screen, then eats your head.

That is going to give me nightmares for the next few nights.

GA comments edit

I think it's a good start for an article on this subject, but needs some improvement to be a Good Article:

  • The way it's currently organized, the intro provides background and the rest of the sections don't really flow logically. You might try arranging the article in sections like: Background, history, test cards (with subsections for each test card), and legacy (in place of "recent years").
  • Once the article is organized better, then the intro should just be a brief overview of the entire article.
  • Spell out your references in a References section using the references templates for printed or web references.
  • Although not required for a GA article, you should be able to put at least one fair use image of the clown in the article. If you need help writing the fair use rationale, let me know. Here's a good example- [1].
  • Is there more information you can provide on the subject? It seems kind of short.

Please answer here or leave me a note on my talk page and I'll come back and relook the article. Cla68 07:47, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just added an image from the Test Card F article. I'd say that if you can't find more information for this article, that it be merged into the Test Card F article for now. Cla68 07:57, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I'm going to bed now, and I was out on the piss tonight, but hopefully tomorrow I can improve this...-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 00:39, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
It has been five days and I don't see any major improvements to the article so I'm going to fail it for GA for the reasons I listed above. I won't add merge proposal tags, however, right now. CLA 00:39, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I would have done the things you requested if I had not had my Internet cut off for a week.-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 08:15, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Leave me a message on my user talk page after you've reworked the article and I'll come back and re-look it. CLA 01:10, 11 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do not merge with Test Card F! edit

Please don't merge this article with Test card F as Bubbles the Clown could easily become the basis of a very good article on the popular culture aspect of this test card. All the other test card articles are technical ones - and Test Card F should be too - but it's becoming diluted with the (important) culture stuff plus trivia. What I suggest is that this is moved to within Bubbles, with a signpost For a more general overview see... (or similar) to it from Test Card F.Zir 12:38, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

The best way to head off a merge proposal is to prove that this article can stand on its own, by expanding it with detailed, cited text. The sooner the better. CLA 12:58, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Contacting Carol Hersee edit

She would probably be the best source for information on what happened to Bubbles. Since she's appeared in the media recently, if anyone wants to try contacting the BBC to see if we can get the final word from her...-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 00:35, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

NPOV edit

Um, I disagree. I think this article is pretty neutral.
