Talk:Bryan Spears

Has Bryan done anything of note, other than being the brother to some well-known people? Joyous | Talk 18:31, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good question. Does he have the education and background to be a tv producer other than just his sisters paid him money? Can we delete this article seeing as he seems to shun the spotlight except when he's being paid by a sister? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:147:C002:D83A:2840:13A:18C0:265D (talk) 22:44, 3 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Nominate for deletion

Does Bryan have any training or experience as director other than being listed on his sister's project?

Chaotic was a series of home videos shot on a home video camera by Britney and her then husband, Kevin, themselves. The series was narrated by the two of them sitting on a couch talking about the events in the videos. It is not clear how much if any involvement Bryan actually had with the series, and the skills involved to produce the series did not entail much above what a novice film maker would know.

The notability of this article is more of trivia than of anything needing a separate page on Wiki. It should be deleted or else merged with the Chaotic page in order to meet Wikipedia's standards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1003:B11E:26B8:CDD4:876:CE64:B112 (talk) 23:44, 18 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

This article does not improve the coverage of Britney Spears on Wiki

edit

This article is not about Britney or her accomplishments. This article is about a casual contact in her life. If every person who casually had contact with her career was granted their own page, and if every person with casual contact with every other star was granted their own page, then Wiki would be bogged down with articles.

This page in no way, shape or form leads to better understanding of Britney the person or Britney the brand. Bryan has done nothing notable for her career that necessitates a Wiki page. This page is trivia, and should be merged with the Britney Spears page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1003:B11F:D62A:9922:6000:6071:82EB (talk) 01:07, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Bryan is not an actor or film maker

edit

Use of the actor and film maker banner is not proper here. He has never acted in anything, nor directed anything that was not Britney related. Indeed, the banner admits that in the world of directing, Bryan is of very low importance. That he may or may not have set up a camera in his sister's living room for a question and answer session does not in any way imply he has the training or experience to be called a director. The proof of that statement is his lack of any experience or training in the career field outside of a very tiny sliver of his sister's career. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1003:B11F:D62A:9922:6000:6071:82EB (talk) 01:10, 20 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Scope of Wiki biographies: Not notable

edit

"On Wikipedia, notability is a test used by editors to decide whether a given topic warrants its own article. For people, the person who is the topic of a biographical article should be "worthy of notice"[1] or "note"[2]—that is, "remarkable"[2] or "significant, interesting, or unusual enough to deserve attention or to be recorded"[1] within Wikipedia as a written account of that person's life. "Notable" in the sense of being famous or popular—although not irrelevant—is secondary.

This notability guideline for biographies[3] reflects consensus reached through discussions and reinforced by established practice, and informs decisions on whether an article about a person should be written, merged, deleted, or further developed. For advice about how to write biographical articles, see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons.

People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published[4] secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other,[5] and independent of the subject.[6]

If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability; trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources may not be sufficient to establish notability.[7] Primary sources may be used to support content in an article, but they do not contribute toward proving the notability of a subject. People who meet the basic criteria may be considered notable without meeting the additional criteria below. Articles may still not be created for such people if they fall under exclusionary criteria, such as being notable only for a single event, or such as those listed in Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not."

Notability - people

edit

Wikipedia:Notability_(people):

A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject.

Wikipedia:Notability:

"Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material.

The article cites four magazine articles that significantly cover the subject under that guideline. The remaining question would then be whether those sources are reliable sources. I dare say the Daily Mail and People qualify, if only barely. I can't speak for the Hollywood Gossip, but there are 80 uses of it within the encyclopedia.

Until the sources are shown to be reliable, notability has been established by the four significant coverage citations.
