2009 Plan

I had originally included the 2009 Plan, but after some research, it seems that this 7-line network is no longer the proposal. The 9-line system is what newspapers cite, as well as the SNCB themselves. I propose the re-deletion of this section. ConorBrady^.ie (caint) 08:40, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Ah, really? I didn't realise that. We should also remove it from the article on the French wikipedia in that case. Do you have references somewhere which accurately describe the current status? After doing a lot of searching both in French and in English, I haven't found anything definitive that says that the 2009 Plan was dropped. Having said that though, the only place I have found mention it was indeed on the French Wiki page.

As far as the number of lines is concerned, yes that map states that there will be eight. Counting the different coloured lines on the map, however, indicates nine. ConorBrady^.ie (caint) 18:56, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

So this site, particularly the final report it links, seems interesting. I presume that this is what has been reported as the 2009 plan.

I haven't had a chance to read through it all, but I note that it's focusing on the longer term, with its maps looking at 2015 onwards. Whereas maps like this one on the SNCB site are described as "Horizon 2012". So does this mean they could actually both be valid? Or is the 2009 report merely a study, and has never been officially accepted as a future strategy?

So perhaps it's most sensible to keep the main route description as that currently described by SNCB/NMBS, and add a paragraph or two referencing the 2009 plan / study / report as a future proposal, and identifying its key points? --David Edgar (talk) 13:08, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
