Expansion of this article

This article about New Jersey Nets owner Bruce Ratner needed serious expansion/editing in order to be elevated from stub-class article to a true article. It's complete with necessary references and information about his tenure as owner of the Nets. Mr. Brain (talk) 15:50, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Corzine ownership attempt.

The article states "Ratner's group beat out an ownership group led by Charles Kushner and former New Jersey governor Jon Corzine." Ratner bought the team in 2004. At that time, Corzine was still a United States Senator; he was not elected Governor of New Jersey until November 2005, did not take office until January 2006, and was not a "former New Jersey governor" until early 2010. Can this statement be reworded? (I'm afraid I only have, "Hey, that's not right!" to offer.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Perplexed (talk • contribs) 19:34, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Characterization as controversial

Here are texts from the Charles Bagli and Joseph Berger piece in the Times, footnote #1 in the article:

"Mr. Ratner, one of the most prominent and polarizing figures in real-estate-mad New York"

"He persisted through lawsuits, protests, financial problems and the chilling doubts of his relatives."

Candace Carpentor, spokeswoman for Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn: 'He garnered political support and taxpayer favors with the promise of huge benefits, including 2.250 affordable-housing units and 10,000 permanent jobs. But the only benefit we have received is a traffic-choking, noise-generating, taxpayer-money-losing white elephant and acres of vacant logs where a thriving, multiethnic community once stood.'

"Though developers frequently come under attack in New York, the criticism is rarely as fierce as it has been with Mr. Ratner over the Atlantic Yards project."

"He was also among the biggest spenders in the state on lobbying politicians."

The lead of an article, and especially the opening paragraph/sentence, are to summarize the article – the WP:OPENPARA to specify exactly why the subject is notable. Controversies should be covered in due wright to their coverage by reliable sources, but starting out the article by describing him as controversial is a gross violation of NPOV.
