Forced to resign edit

Should this information be posted on the article? It was posted by the Chronicle of Higher Education:

In March 2008, Dr. Kone was forced to resign as Dean of the University of Florida College of Medicine. This action came as a direct result of an Admissions Controversy. Dr. Kone supersided the admissions committee and admitted a student that was politically connected, even though the student had not taken the MCAT.Admissions Controversy

College of Medicine controversy edit

The statement is inaccurate and should be removed because it is inaccurate and media speculation.Dr. Kone was not "forced to resign" and his reassignment was never stated to be a result of the admission of the medical student. The university stated that Dr. Kone acted within University policy [1]. The University president J. Bernard Machen was quoted as saying that he "looked into the matter (and was) satisfied with the candidate's qualifications for admission"[2]. Dr. Kone provided a different account of his admission's decision, citing privacy violations and external influences by the medical admissions committee in a letter to the editor of the official journal of the Association of American Medical Colleges, Academic Medicine [3]. Based on other media reports, Kone's objection to retirement policies at the university of Florida may have been a bigger factor in his demotion [4][5].

Agree. No verifiability. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rawgtr (talkcontribs) 01:03, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Agree. Statements inaccurate and not verifiable. Kone's objection to the double dipping issue seems to have been pivotal in his demotion, since the university eventually concluded that had he carried out the plan he inherited to continue employment of a senior associate dean for education, that it would have been illegal.</ref>[6].Willseer (talk) 01:50, 22 August 2009 (UTC)willseerReply

More recent newspaper articles (2009) and published University of Florida internal investigations and the "settlement agreement" present a more NPOV. These are now included in the major edit of the final paragraph before "Honors." Willseer (talk) 14:54, 22 August 2009 (UTC)willseerReply

The well-referenced revision to the demotion and subsequent dispute between Kone and the University of Florida was removed by Jccort, who has been active in the University of Florida WikiProject. There was a legal settlement agreement to end all disputes between UF and Kone that paid Kone $517,000. It would seem that Jccort is representing a biased UF point of view by removing statement that could be viewed as critical of the UF administration. This is a clear conflict of interest. Jccort needs to provide justification in the talk page for his wholesale removal of an appropriately-sourced edit. Willseer (talk) 15:16, 22 August 2009 (UTC)willseerReply

I am done with this page, it is up to other editors to make the call. Jccort (talk) 19:24, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hey, guys. I'm one of the hard-working writer-editor stiffs chewing on University of Florida-related articles. I also happen to be an attorney. In most Wikipedia circles, a law degree and $4 will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbuck's. That having been said, one of the senior WikiProject editors asked me to look at this brewing controversy. I think I get the gist of what happened after reading recent article edits and reviewing the edit history. I would be willing to propose some compromise language that might satisfy everyone, if you will permit me to do so. I would also like to speak to Willseer before attempting compromise edits. Willseer, could you please send me an e-mail at floridadirtlawyer@yahoo.com with your telephone number? If so, I will give you a ring to briefly discuss. Thanks.
