Merger?

The creator and character histories are fairly entangled, there's a deal of source duplication, and neither looks likely to be expanded much. Tidier to merge? Gordonofcartoon 14:34, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, if you knows a better 'ole, go to it :) The cartoon article covers the famous character, and merging with a redirect would have the problem of surprising readers searching for Old Bill. Expansion sounds good, starting with that catch phrase suitably sourced, will try to help. Must dig out those bound volumes of Punch.... dave souza, talk 18:14, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Interesting reference to a Canadian film of this title, directed by BB in 1928. But your link goes straight to the much-later UK film of that name, first of the 'Carry On' series. Valetude (talk) 13:13, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Old Bill and "the Bill"?

I assume you're referring to the "Post-war" bit that says, " Many police officers of the time had similar facial hair, and that may have led to British police being referred to as The Old Bill."The Bill" was a British t.v. series which incorrectly shortened the original commonly-used phrase." The material is unsourced and has been since May 2012. Per WP:V, you can certainly remove the material if you dispute it. - SummerPhD^v2.0 14:20, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
