So a world-class fencer now gets reduced to a controversy that was not her own fault on wikipedia? Great. 88.69.60.46 (talk) 09:36, 2 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

It wasn't her own fault?. The South Korean was robbed, and Britta went along with it — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.43.148.11 (talk) 22:26, 3 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
She is as obligated to follow the rules as any other athlete. If she had refused to accept the win, Shin would not have been awarded a victory. The aggrieved fencer is the one who has the right to appeal, and the responsibility. Blaming Heidemann for it is foolish. If Shin's appeal had been successful, there would be just as much controversy over the decision. 68.117.128.16 (talk) 02:32, 4 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think most reasonable people would agree that 0.02 seconds is not enough time to score a touch. 74.192.141.207 (talk) 04:15, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

The problem with the page at the moment is that it devotes too much to that one single incident. Its practically turning into a COATRACK. I'll summarize it shorter and put a link to a more detailed writeup elsewhere. There are now 3 copies of this incident being written up, and different details are mentioned at each. Personally I would suggest consolidating all the info, then make the most detailed one be at the Olympics controversy section, while the writeups here and at Shin's page be shortened but linked prominently to the Olympic controversy article.
