Lede and infobox

  • "The first British airborne troops were formed in June, 1940," - it sounds like the troops were "formed" from their constituent particles :P. I appreciate that "troop" can also be a military unit, but this is unnecessarily vague - suggest "force".
  • "The first British airborne troops were formed in June, 1940, on the orders of the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, and a single parachute battalion was formed from a retrained British Commando unit" - Skinny, Skinny, Skinny! Every GA review and there's repetition in a sentence :P. replace one "formed" with "created"; suggest the first one.
  • "When planning began for Operation Torch, the invasion of North Africa, in 1942" - suggest shortening to "When planning began for [[Operation Torch|the invasion of North Africa]] in 1942".
  • Suggest linking "503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment" to 503rd Infantry Regiment (United States).
  • Link Bône (well, Annaba).
  • "1st Parachute Battalion was then tasked with being dropped near Souk el-Arba and Béja and securing the airfield at the latter" - "1st Parachute Battalion was then dropped near Souk el-Arba and Béja with the intent of securing the airfield at the latter"
  • Link Depienne Airfield and Oudna Airfield.
  • "it had lost more than 250 casualties" - you don't "lose" casualties, you suffer them. It brings to mind an image of a group of tommies patting themselves down and going "now I'm sure I had it earlier" "did you check underneath the sofa?" "yes, I found a COUPLE of the casualties we lost, but there's at least 240 still missing".

Background

fine

Bone

edit
  • "at 04:30 on 11 November they took off from Gibraltar and landed at Maison Blanche at 09:00" - "at 04:30 on 11 November they took off from Gibraltar, landing at Maison Blanche at 09:00"

Béja and Souk el Arba

edit
  • link "Dakota transport aircraft"
  • "Tunisian borders" - singular, surely.
  • link "Sten gun"
  • Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Hill lead - shouldn't it be "led"?
  • link "sappers"
  • With his adjutant and a small group of paratroopers, Hill drew his revolver " - that many men to draw a revolver? Suggest rearranging.

Depienne and Oudna

edit
  • Depienne can be bluelinked to Depienne Airfield
  • "from British First Army" - "from the British First Army", and link.
  • Link "78th Infantry Division" to the relevant one, US or UK
  • "only to find that it, to" - too, shouldn't it be?
And that's everything done. Many thanks! Skinny87 (talk) 11:13, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
