I have never, ever, ever, not in thirty years of living in New Zealand, heard a person call themselves a "British New Zealander" in lieu of "European" or "Pakeha". Are you sure this even happens? Are you sure this article refers to actual things? by Kripto, 15 Jan 07

When asked of their ethnicity people tend to say things like "my ancestors were British", "I'm of British descent", we don't use the term "British New Zealander" all as once because "British" in and of itself is sufficient - [A.J.Chesswas], 30 January 2007
I think you're telling me that this term isn't used, which is what I thought in the first place. I've heard people identify as British, but that's a different article. I think you should go put a sentence about your Britishness on that page and see if you don't accidentally start a massive edit war. - I agree with A.J.Chesswas. People (who families have lived in NZ since the 1860's) do say they "my ancestors were British", "I'm of British descent". However I would say "NZ European" or "Pakeha" or New Zealander are for people saying that. In today's world a British New Zealander is most likely someone who has just moved from the UK me thinks Brian | (Talk) 02:12, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
