Indefinite protection?

On 19 July 2011, Fastily indefinitely protected Brian Carthy's Wikipedia entry. Why was this? There are very few edits in the page history and Brian Carthy does not appear to merit any more protection than, say, Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh who is arguably much better known. I was going to ask Fastily but it appears they are no longer on Wikipedia and when another question was asked I see someone said to ask another admin. So I've raised the issue here in the hope that another administrator will see this. At any rate, anything negative would have had to occur more than a year ago. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.40.96.102 (talk • contribs) 18:44, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- It appears that Fastily only modified the duration of the protection from 5 years to indefinite; the page was initially protected by Daniel (talk · contribs) and the reasons why are only accessible to administrators or OTRS volunteers. Daniel still appears to be active on Wikipedia, so you should probably discuss with him first. You may also request unprotection at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection but it may be frowned upon if you go there without discussing with the protecting admin first. —KuyaBriBriTalk 19:20, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- Unprotected. Based off the (deleted) edit history, this article needs to be closely monitored for IP WP:BLP violations, and should be reprotected if they occur. Daniel (talk) 22:27, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
