interesting trivia in re: Mrs. Jeanne Manford and son Morty Manford edit

In 1972 Mrs. Jeanne Manford, Queens resident, Chapter co-founder and mother of pioneering LGBT rights activist the late Morty Manford(pdf), marched in New York City's Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade. She was holding a sign that said "Parents of Gays: Unite in Support of Our Children"

This event is considered to be the start of the now international organization called PFLAG Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.

Her son Morty, despite being Gay bashed in a famous incident went on to become an assistant New York State attorney general. Sadly he passed away from AIDS in 1992 at the age of 41. The PFLAG-Queen's "Morty Manford Award" is named in his honor[1]. CyntWorkStuff 05:53, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
