status of women's soccer in Brazil?

edit

I lack an discussion starting out with the fact that this team has posed in Playboy, and its implications for taking the team seriously as a sports team. Nothing of the sort is even hinted at here. It's not as if somebody is pretending it isn't happening, I hope 85.227.226.168 08:37, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was not the Brazilian women's national team that has posed in Playboy. It was only several models wearing (or, in some pictures not wearing) the Brazilian football home kit. --Carioca 19:17, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Rivalry with Argentina

edit

The rise of Argentina as a rival??? Whose opinion is it? Why is it here? Argentina won one game against Brazil, in Mar del Plata!, went on to receive the greatest defeat in world cup history (11-0 to Germany) and once again leave the tournament as dead last... (0W, 3Losses, 1GF, 18GA, -17 GD!) But yet it is the only team mentioned in Brazil's page as its rival! "as the men's"??!! Argentina is Brazil's rival??? Not Germany, not USA, Sweden, Denmark or Norway? But Argentina! Of all the finals Brazil played, won and lost, this is The only one being mentioned?! How come? Remove the word Argentina from this page!

"Brazilians have not been entirely supportive of the program"? What program? How is it that Brazilians haven't been supportive? Compared to USA, for example, Brazil's women's soccer is a fairly new affair. And it competes for mass audiance not only with men's soccer, but also with volley and basketball(men's and women's, indoor and beach). The new league is taking its first steps and the old Taça Brasil and Campeonato Brasileiro strugled(for many reasons). So it's one thing to say that state football federations, CBF and COB haven't been able to promote and sustain sucssesful championships, cups and leagues, but to say that only "after 2007 world cup the country has begun to notice the women's side" is inacurate at best. This two paragraphs are among the worst I've ever seen on Wikipedia. Please review, or I will. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.218.254.166 (talk) 14:58, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Marta's age mix up

edit

Marta cannot have been 22 at the 2008 Olympics and 23 at the 2007 World Cup. I don't know how old she is, but I know this is wrong —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.219.115.20 (talk) 10:11, 30 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fixed. Thanks for letting us know. --Carioca (talk) 18:19, 31 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

The women's team has not even won a world cup. It is not fitting for this team to have the 5-star logo. KyuuA4 (Talk:キュウ) 08:45, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

See this picture (zoom it and check the player without the ball). The women's team use the same logo, but without the five stars. Probably someone should upload a logo without the stars. Hope that helps. --Carioca (talk) 19:44, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
