Notability

Her relationship with her family

Her mother is Tish Cyrus by birth, her father is Billy Ray Cyrus by adoption. Since she has the same legal parents as all her siblings, they are legally full siblings to her and should be referred to and considered as such as she does herself. @Legacypac: Trace's and Billy Ray's articles have a lot of detail, some of which may be applicable to this article, although I don't think it necessary to go into too much detail about Brandi's parent's histories as this article is about Brandi, not them.. Tish had Brandi and Trace before her marriage to Billy Ray and he adopted them both making him their legal father. Tish and Billy Ray had three more children between them. It is uncertain whether or not Brandi and Trace have the same biological father but it wasn't Billy Ray for either of them. For the purposes of this article it really doesn't matter much as Tish and Billy Ray are Brandi's legal parents same as for all her siblings. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:03, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I'm confused; if Billy adopted Brandi and her brother Trace after marrying her mother Tish, wouldn't that make him her's STEP-father, as well as Braison, Miley, and Noah her HALF-siblings? MrWii000 (talk) 20:33, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

A step parent is a legal stranger with no rights and responsibilities to the child. He stopped being a step-father when he adopted her. He is legally her father, not her step-father. Lives in Colorado?

An IP changed the page to say she lives in Colorado. I could not verify this but it seems plausable. I tagged the fact as disputed for now but have no strong feelings either way. Birth name disputed

We have a reference in the article ("Brandi Cyrus - Actress, DJ, Host". www.tvinsider.com.) which states "Born Brandi Glenn Helson in Nashville, Tennessee on May 26, 1987, she was one of two children by Baxter Helson and Leticia Jean "Tish" Finley, who would later marry country singer and actor Billy Ray Cyrus in 1993." The veracity of that source is disputed by (Ushe, Naledi. "Billy Ray Cyrus says he was at his 'wit's end' amid leaked audio berating Firerose, Tish".) which includes statements by Billy Ray Cyrus that Brandy was not Baxter Helson's child. The two sources conflict. Normally Billy Ray's statements would be considered a primary source and fall under WP:ABOUTSELF rules that say we can only use it as a reference for information about himself and not others. Based on that Billy Ray's statements about Brandy's birth father should be ignored and we should stick with the current secondary sourced for Brandy's birth info. Also statements made in anger by an ex-husband about his ex-wife's lack of virtue are generally suspect at the best of times. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:36, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
