2nd paragraph disagrees with the 1st edit

The intro paragraph gives two views of its date:

Some writers have assigned to the reign of the emperor Justinian I, and others have treated as an apocryphal work of the 16th century.

But then the second paragraph presents as a near certainty a third view that the intro doesn't mention:

The origin of the work may be referred with great probability to the 12th century.

Some of this no doubt comes from the EB1911 import; is anyone familiar with recent scholarship on the subject? --Delirium (talk) 05:42, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
