What was built when? edit

It is not clear when each bit of the house was put up, or why there were two unconnected bits. 95.149.54.104 (talk) 13:18, 15 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Discrepancy with former residents? edit

The article states that Bowood House has been the residence of:

  • Sir William Petty, (1622–1687)
  • Thomas FitzMaurice, 1st Earl of Kerry (1668–1741)

..but on the official Bowood website http://www.bowood-house.co.uk/lansdowne_family.html it says that "The Bowood Estate was bought in 1754 by John Petty Fitzmaurice, 1st Earl of Shelburne (1706–1761)".. "with the fortune left by Sir William Petty (1623-1687)" ?? And if the house wasn't built till 1725... Brograve 23:20, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Update Link and Language edit

I have updated the external link to the American Chemical Society National Historic Chemical Landmarks (ACS-NHCL) resource about this topic and corrected the NHCL name in the body of the entry. I am the program coordinator of the ACS-NHCL program, and the page that was referenced has been replaced with http://portal.acs.org/portal/PublicWebSite/education/whatischemistry/landmarks/josephpriestleyoxygen/index.htm.
