Was Boris pushed out of the Yak and Yeti by his partners?

When traveling in Nepal several years ago, I heard a rumor that, late in his life, Lisanevich had been more-or-less swindled out of his share in the hotel by his (I think, Indian, though possibly Nepali) partners, and that he and his widow ended their lives in near-penury.
