POV check- the criticisms section doesn't cite any sources and therefore lacks evidence to back up the criticisms made.

Fair comment - I'm new to Wiki, and I now realise said material is largely inadmissable 'original research' and personal opinion. So I've scrubbed the worst offending content and shall try again with references; once I can find them. Apologies for tainting the good name of Wiki :) - WOB

Was it really nessecary to remove the weblog link, SoC? I don't see how its presence is Un-Wiki. - WOB

Is the criticisms section nessecary? I propose removing it as none of the information is cited. Also, it does not add to the article nor does it keep the high standards of wikipedia.Gbarnes 5 11:06, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'd have to agree, GBarnes. Not on veracity grounds, simply references. I rubbed my original criticisms some time ago in response to the NPOV challenge, but wasn't sure if it was right for me to clear the flag. These new swipes aren't the content referred to by the NPOV flagger, or my work, added by another Booths employee instead. I've contacted the author, suggested they remove them, but I feel they won't; so one of us should. Oh, for the record, I'm involved with the weblog linked to, so must declare a bias, but I still think that links OK. - WOB, 16th Sept 07

Confusing geographic details

edit

The section headed "The Future" mentions some "recent" store closures, thus:

Although the company has recently closed its Leyland, Penwortham (Liverpool Road), South Shore, Lytham (Market Square) stores, and its oldest store in St. Annes,[9] it is also opening new stores.

I've flagged the "recently" with the {{when}} template, and the list of store locations - incomprehensible to a non-local like me - with the {{vague}} template. Please make this make sense to an outsider if you can! Perhaps it should read something like the following:

The company closed several stores in 2010-2011, including those in Leyland; Penwortham (Liverpool Road); South Shore; Lytham (Market Square); and its oldest store in St. Annes[9]. However, it is also opening new stores.

or even:

The company closed several stores in 2010-2011, including stores in Leyland; in Liverpool Road, Penwortham; in South Shore; in Market Square, Lytham; and its oldest store in St. Annes[9]. However, it is also opening new stores.

Store list

edit

The list fails WP:NOTDIRECTORY/WP:NOTGUIDE and as such should be removed, The "areas served" are all in the infobox, Also just to note consensus is to remove these anyway (there's no store list on any article here because obviously consensus is they fail NOTGUIDE/NOTDIR). –Davey2010Talk 16:48, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

I agree that the list of supermarkets serves no purpose but the map was informative. A better map would include all the branches and would illistrate the distinctive geographic area more effectively to non-natives. --Northernhenge (talk) 22:49, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
There is no map, though one would be very sensible.Deipnosophista (talk) 10:29, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
