Coffee, tea or Bonox

This suggests that the claim that it was ‘common to ask “Coffee, Tea or Bonox” when offering guests a drink’ was an advertising line, not fact.--Grahame (talk) 01:15, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

It was more than an advertising line. People did ask if you wanted Coffee, tea or Bonox, but more as a joke than serious. So the claim is NOT dubious. Newtaste (talk) 08:23, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

You are correct Newtaste ; It was definitely an ad and the Coffee tea or Bonox phrase was a well used saying after WW2; When I first toured an Abbatoir in Rockhampton in 1951, I watched the animals go through the complete process and at the extreme end of the line was a small section producing pure animal protein from the blood etc , which, the slaughterers told me, was for making Bonox !!.

It was certainly common when I was young (1970s & 1980s) to offer "coffee, tea or bonox?", but almost exclusively in jest. I don't ever recall seeing it in advertising. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.14.41.149 (talk) 22:44, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
