Inclusion of "American Girl" and "Sleepwalker" on Hot City

These two songs, while included, were not promoted as part of this album. "Slay" was the first single released from this album. Inclusion on the album does not equate to singles from the project. "American Girl" was promoted from another project, and "Sleepwalker" was never promoted from an album project. livelikemusic (TALK!) 21:24, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

These songs were promoted as part of this album. If you're capable of putting facts together, Bonnie literally used "American Girl" in the album announcement and highlight medley. In a recent Reddit AMA, she confirmed that "Sleepwalker" and "Stars In Your Heart" were always part of the album as well. Yes, we all know the Epic album was scrapped, but that doesn't mean anything. The whole project was resurrected, and these singles are part of it. If using a song in the album announcement isn't promoting it as part of the album, I don't know what is.

If you look at other artists' discographies: let's start with Katy Perry. "Daisies" was a lead single of "Smile," but since the very beginning "Never Really Over" and "Harleys In Hawaii," were considered droplets without any future placement within her upcoming album, yet they're both listed as album singles on her discography page. A recent case - Normani is releasing an album in two weeks and included a single from 2021 ("Wild Side"). It also states here that it's a single from the album. I don't get why it can't be the same here.

Additionally, it just happens all the changes I provide happen to be declined by you while extremely untrue content passes right through your eye like “Boy Hangover” under “Slay”, an album that don’t exist, unlike American Girl under Hot City. As someone with power to change information to be correct, you don’t seem to do the job well. What was wrong with the additional note on "Worst In Me" under the special releases section, stating that the song was later included on "Hot City"? As you can see, 3 other Wikipedia editors agreed to include American Girl, Sleepwalker and Stars In Your Heart as Hot City singles. Since you didn’t provide any argument, the „case” is closed. Electricheaven (talk) 15:48, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

When a song isn't originally meant to be part of a certain album but later happens to be included on the track list, it's not the same thing as putting out a single that's intended to promote/lead up to an album. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 13:29, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

If the singer herself confirms that a particular song on the album (in this case, American Girl) was the lead single, then what else is there to discuss?

Hot City is a 2013-2014 project which got shelved by the label. Years later, the singer had decided to revisit the project and complete it as an independent artist.

If these singles cannot be listed under Hot City, then what is it exactly that makes this case distinct from other precedents; such as Katy Perry or Normani, which have been handled differently.

I provided valid arguments @Livelikemusic ignored and continues to ignore, yet he consistently refers to self-perceived “personal attacks” and refuses to budge in terms of finding common ground. Electricheaven (talk) 14:54, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

Per Justin Hergett's official website, he lists himself as the assistant mix engineer for an album listed at Somebody's Gonna Get Hurt, which was suggested, via Variety article (as posted on a pop forum—which, by the way, I don't consider a forum to be "reliable" at all, but for a reputable source to publish said-information without dispute from McKee, it does give weight to validity) that this is the unreleased album, via Epic Records. No one is disputing the album was intended for the album; merely that its release was for Hot City (the re-recorded record) or for the original 2013 recorded sessions (suggested to have been called Somebody's Gonna Get Hurt). livelikemusic (TALK!) 15:41, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

While I don't know what happened with Normani, here's a key difference with Katy: she had no plans for Smile or in general any album when first releasing "Never Really Over" and "Harleys in Hawaii". This contrasts with how Bonnie planned all along to have each of the Hot City tracks on the album. The production/release delay has no bearing on that. If it wasn't for her comments in the linked Reddit post (plenty to clinch the case), then I wouldn't be inclined to say the tracks count as album singles given the unusually long gap between album and song releases. Glad you agreed that these tracks are part of HC era, and since “random droplets” by Katy can be easily included as album singles then why Bonnie’s actual singles from the album can’t be? Shouldn’t that be the end of discussion? Electricheaven (talk) 15:49, 7 June 2024 (UTC)
