Very heavy casualties?

title change>> British bombardment of Algiers

this is only a minor -yet british- bombardment of algiers, Don Antonio Barcelo did more important bombardments, like in 1784, with larger fleets (130 ships not 27...) and he reduced the algerian corsairs for a while. i suggest to change the title to be more specific. Bomb Vessel

I'm afraid the author has misunderstood the nature of a bomb vessel. It is not intended to moor alongside something and then explode. A 'Bomb' or 'Bomb Ketch' is a broad-beamed vessel with two mortars amidships. It throws exploding shells on a high trajectory. See Wiki entry on 'Bomb Ketch' for more. This is certainly the case and the wording should be changed. Also the destruction to the town was said to be great, the upper floor of the US consulate was destroyed - as described by the consul himself, also the intense heat from the burning Algerine shipping caused fire to spread to the warehouses near the harbour.
