Article needs overhaul - no longer harvesting for power stations. edit
The times of the peat power stations in Ireland came to an end in December 2020. Sentences like Peat is mechanically harvested on a large scale and The area has miles of narrow gauge industrial railways for transporting turf to processing plants and turf powered power plants are outdated.--Wanfried-Dublin (talk) 09:10, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

- That is completely untrue! Both terms are widely used. Turf refers usually to peat cut for burning. Sarah777 (talk) 21:58, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- When I was young and I first heard of 'The Turf Club' I thought that it was to do with saving turf on the bogs of Ireland. I was amazed to hear that it was to do with horse racing - I had no idea that 'turf' meant 'grass and/or earth' in other countries. When I was a teenager we were introduced to the 'peat briquette' which was the first time I heard of peat as distinct from turf. 95.44.220.198 (talk) 21:39, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
